What Are Straw Panels?
What Eco-Bud straw panels are: rye straw compressed into a wooden frame, standard panel dimensions, and why the resulting walls turn out strong.

With Eco-Bud's building technology, a house is built from straw panels that are joined together. So what exactly are straw panels? What do they look like, and are they actually reliable?
First of all, it's worth saying that pressing straw into special panels is a modern Western European technology that is now gaining significant popularity in Western Europe and America. In essence, such a house can be compared to the well-known cob or clay house, but a more advanced version adapted to modern requirements.

A straw panel (standard) is tightly compressed straw inside a wooden frame.
Width: 1.25 meters
Height: 3 meters
Thickness: 40 cm
However, non-standard panels can also be used in house construction, making it possible to realize even the most complex architectural designs.

What materials are used to make straw panels?
Eco-Bud straw panels use only rye straw, since it compresses very densely and rodents don't like it.
At the production facility, the straw is compressed using specialized industrial equipment. So there's no need to worry about it settling over time — there's simply nowhere left for it to settle.
The frame is made from softwood species, since they contain resins that act as natural preservatives. This means the house only gets stronger with each passing year. At the client's request, oak can also be used.
The wooden frame isn't made from ordinary boards — it undergoes high-precision machining that makes the timber perfectly straight. As a result, when the house is assembled, the panels fit together millimeter to millimeter. This makes it simply impossible for cold air from outside to get into the house.
How strong are these walls?
Since the straw is compressed to the maximum, the walls turn out quite solid. To back up this claim, here's a clear demonstration you can judge for yourself.
And here's our detailed answer about just how tightly the straw is compressed in our panels:
As you can see, this is genuinely a new, modern technology. It only resembles old-fashioned rammed earth in its materials, but in essence it's something entirely different — convenient, refined, and free of unnecessary hassle.
The choice is yours!
